About Charlene Dronet

Hello, My name is Charlene P. Dronet, Broker/Owner of Dronet Realty & Property Management, PLLC https://www.dronetrealty.com, located at 1741 Jackson Avenue, Pascagoula, Mississippi 39567. I am not a newcomer to the Real Estate Business. I have been a Licensed Real Estate Professional since November 2007. I received my Broker license in January 2014 and founded Dronet Realty & Property Management, PLLC, the same year.   I am proud to announce the celebration of our 10th anniversary in business. My roots run deep in Mississippi for centuries. I am a native of the coast, born in Pascagoula and raised in D'Iberville. I went to preschool and 1st through 6th grade at Cedar Lake Christian Academy https://clcalions.org/.   I went to D'Iberville Schools, where I graduated in 2002. I cut my teeth on helping my father manage his properties when I was in High School. While in High School, I was a member of the dance and soccer teams and ran cross country and track & field. I was also actively involved in community service as the appointed Key Club President https://www.keyclub.org and SADD President https://www.sadd.org. After graduating with Honors from D'Iberville High School, I continued my education at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College https://mgccc.edu/ for two years and received my Associate's Degree. I then went to The University of Southern Mississippi https://home.usm.edu/ of Hattiesburg to receive my Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a minor in Marketing, Graduating in December 2006. I am a member of www.alphadeltapi.org, the first and oldest secret society for women, established in 1851. I took on the business emphasis, needing to learn how to utilize them. Since I was already familiar with Real Estate and Property Management, I decided to get my Real Estate License in 2007.

I married the love of my life in 2011, Mark Andrew (Drew) Dronet, Jr.  I am the proud wife of a City of Biloxi Firefighter III/Engineer. Drew was just promoted to Captain in January 2023, and we are very proud of him as he serves our community https://www.biloxi.ms.us/departments/fire-department/. We have one son, Madix Anchor Dronet, who is ten years old. Madix is a real daddy's boy interested in all sports, hunting, fishing, boating, to name a few. My husband and I are both avid outdoorsmen and are PADI-certified scuba divers https://www.padi.com. We make our home in Biloxi. The Tchoutacabouffa River is our playground, where we have family get-togethers and enjoy water activities.  

I am a life member of the Junior Auxiliary of Biloxi-Ocean Springs; https://www.jabos.org/ Junior Auxiliary represents a serious endeavor on the part of women to be active and constructive community participants and to assume leadership roles in meeting community needs. One of my favorite service projects is Backpack Buddies. This program allows qualifying children to receive a bag of food on Fridays lasting throughout the weekend. I have a great family surrounding me on both sides. My father, Maxwell (Max) Powell, Jr., was born and raised in Pascagoula, Mississippi graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1979 and has been an investor in single-family homes, apartment buildings, commercial property, industrial property, and raw land for almost 30 years https://MaxwellBuysHouses.com. He has been the driving force behind my education. He expects me to excel in my chosen field. He had always told me I had to go to college when I was growing up. When I went to college, he told me I needed to pursue my field of study and dreams.   He gave me an excellent opportunity to do both.   

My Grandfather Maxwell (Max) Powell, Sr. (now deceased) owned and managed a 6-plex apartment building, which he built in 1967, three blocks north of the east bank shipyard in Pascagoula. My father's brother, Uncle Warren, still operates those apartments. My Grandfather rented those apartments fully furnished. The first four apartments were studio apartments. He then added two more units which were one-bedroom apartments, in 1969. The rents were cheap back then. He rented the studio apartments for $28.00 per week and the one-bedroom apartments for $38.00 per week. My father started helping my Grandfather manage the apartments when he was 12. He would cut the grass, clean up, paint, and collect rent. He lived across the street from the apartments to keep an eye on them. Renting apartments by the week is management intensive. You can make much money renting by the week, but it is lots of work. My Grandfather worked at Ingalls Shipbuilding from 1939-1983 - with 44 years of service as a pipe welder; however, the income produced from that 6-plex apartment building rivaled his income from his full-time job. My father told me that if my Grandfather hadn't built those apartments, making a living would have been harder. The apartments' income helped the Powells get some extra things in life.  

My mother, Regina Owens Hickman, was born in Biloxi, raised in the Latimer community just north of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and graduated from St. Martin High School in 1982. She has been a member and active participant of the D'Iberville/St. Martin Chamber of Commerce https://dsmchamber.com/ since 2001 and served as President of the Chamber in 2002. My mother has a bookkeeping background and helps me with my day-to-day operations. She takes care of the banking, accounts receivables/payables, answering the phone, and giving me moral support. Superwoman comes to mind when I think of my mother. She has been dedicated to me all my life, and now I need her help more than ever to grow my business. She is eager to help anyone in the office and provides Notary Services. You could say she is my right-handywoman. She keeps me organized and on track. 

My grandparents, John T. (Travis) Owens (now deceased) and Mary Ruth (Judy) Owens (She taught me how to make seafood gumbo –Yummy!), are also investors in Real Estate, owning residential, commercial, industrial properties, and raw land. My grandparents are most notably known for being in the scrap business since 1969. They have been very industrious and hardworking all of their lives. They both have great work ethics and have set an excellent example for our entire family. My mother's brother, Uncle Steve, now runs the scrap yard called Owens Scrap Metal, Inc., located in the Latimer Community on Tucker Road, north of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. I come from a long line of entrepreneurs; it's in my blood. My father always told me I have good genes from both sides of my family. I'm not boasting, but I know he's right.   

My father has been mentored by Charles (Charlie) F. Green of Charlie Green Real Estate in Pascagoula for over 23 years. My father's long-term business and friendship with Charlie Green have helped me in my business. Although my father is not a Real Estate Professional, he has been a Real Estate Investor and has lots of experience. Charlie Green has been instrumental in helping both my father and me in our real estate endeavors. Mr. Charlie has integrity and is very knowledgeable, honest, and straightforward about real estate - a great person to talk to about most issues in life. Mr. Charlie was also very gracious to give a talk to my business fraternity https://www.deltasigmapi.org in 2006 at The University of Southern Mississippi, his alma mater. It was a great talk on following your passions, whatever they may be - to follow your dreams. Even now, Mr. Charlie has helped me with my real estate business, giving me much-needed advice and support. Mr. Charlie also vouched for me when I applied for my Mississippi Real Estate Sales License and my Mississippi Real Estate Brokers License.

You should see my office on a day-to-day basis. It is like a revolving door. We have a steady influx of potential residents coming into the office all the time looking for property to buy and rent and clients who want to list. You won't spend money to get your property marketed because we continually advertise. If the rental rate is competitive, the property usually stays on the market for a short time. We capitalize on the advertisements we provide by offering potential residents other properties if the property they are inquiring about has already been rented.
